A Great Leap Forward CityBeat’s lifetime of championing Cincinnati musicians and their events leads to the acquisition of MidPoint Music FestivalCityBeat is proud to announce the addition of Cincinnati’s MidPoint Music Festival to the newspaper’s bevy of event productions. CityBeat has had a long relationship with MidPoint Music Festival via a sustained commitment as media partner since MPMF’s inaugural 2002 event. An understanding of the history that defines Cincinnati as a music town and editorial dedication to our present day music-makers has molded CityBeat since the newspaper’s launch in 1994. CityBeat’s commitment to the future of MidPoint Music Festival reflects the newspaper’s continued dedication to our city, its music and area music fans. Cincinnati’s music authority has championed our area’s musicians beyond newsprint with the development of Cincinnati’s only and longest running annual local music celebration and awards program, the CEAs. The program’s 12-year run has raised funds for both locally based Lonely Instruments for Needy Kids and the Michael W. Bany Scholarship CityBeat also sponsors a diverse array of annual local artist-generated events such as the Rivertown Breakdown, MusicNow, Scribble Jam, World Music Fest, Cincinnati Blues Festival, Cincy Latino Festival, It’s Commonly Jazz and most recently Bootzilla’s Annual James Brown Tribute. CityBeat brings the full weight of its music coverage and production experience to MidPoint Music Festival’s strong legacy. CityBeat is committed in 2008 and beyond to delivering a music festival deserving of Cincinnati’s rich music history and national reputation as a music town. The tireless work of the festival co-founders, Bill Donabedian and Sean Rhiney, has delivered a festival with a sound reputation. CityBeat is pleased that Bill and Sean remain available to the MidPoint Music Festival in an advisory capacity. A strong new vision for the six-year-old music festival and its continued growth will be announced April 9 at 6pm as MidPoint Music Festival presents Saddle Creek recording artist Cursive at Below Zero Lounge, 1120 Walnut St. in downtown Cincinnati. Tickets are now available at MusicToday.com. The Leap Forward begins today! Cincinnati’s MidPoint Music Festival 2008 is now accepting submissions at MPMF.com and SonicBids.com. |
